Jeff Hodge’s Summary
Jeff Hodge, DataCert’s senior director, EMEA, is a champion for the internationalization of legal electronic business technologies, including legal electronic invoicing, spend management and secure electronic document exchange. An industry veteran with two decades of experience, Jeff’s leadership has been instrumental to introducing the concepts of e-invoicing and legal spend management to corporate law departments worldwide.
A tireless advocate for e-invoicing standardization and efficiencies, Jeff led the creation of the Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard (LEDES) in 1998. He founded the LEDES Oversight Committee (LOC), the non-partisan trade organization that administers the standard. As the LOC’s representative to the United Nations, Jeff is laying the foundation for the adoption of the LEDES standard as part of broader legal and non-legal trade initiatives around the world.
Jeff also founded the Uniform Task Based Management System (UTBMS) Initiative, an organization devoted to updating, internationalizing and supplementing UTBMS as a global taxonomy for the legal community. Additionally, he is an active member of the United Nation's Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business.
He often speaks, writes and presents on topics related to corporate legal technology and law department management. He is a regular speaker at conferences such as the Legal Week Corporate Counsel Forum and the European In-House Counsel Conference. He has also testified before the U.S. Congress on the importance of privacy and security in the digital age.
Prior to joining DataCert, he worked in technology and management consultation for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and he assisted corporate legal departments and large law firms with selecting, implementing and managing technology to enhance the business of law.
