J. M. (Penny) Hall’s Summary
For the past two years, I have been teaching (full time) the Fine Arts and Animation at Magnet School for the Visual and Performing Arts for Inner City Youth. I feel that this has been an invaluable experience that has opened my mind to the trials of children, as young as 5 and older. Many of whom have had their childhood taken from them by the frustrations and limitations that life can sometimes offer. These are children who look for a refuge from the everyday struggle and who attempt to find role models in their interests. As an animator, I feel that it is our duty to provide those things for these children, as well as nourishment for their minds-stories and characters that will stimulate their creativity and encourage them to learn, explore and strive to actualize their full potential. This is what I wish to accomplish within the animation industry and I feel it is an honor to be allowed the opportunity to find my niche in the industry in order to speak to these children, and many more, as well as adults, through the visual arts.
