Jolon Bankey’s Summary
From 1989 until 1991, he worked as a Designer at the Laconte Goldman agency in Boston where he worked on Quantel Paintboxes and A/B roll editing equipment to produce interstitials for A&E, The History Channel, National Geographic, and other television clients.
In 1992 he co-founded and executed the startup of Boston’s first skateboard and clothing company, Joint 109. Here he raised money, coordinated sales, marketing, design and production of all products.
While spending the year of 1994 in Providence, he spent a lot of time working at CoSA, The Company of Science and Art, beta testing, and coming up with new ways to manipulate video, especially in 3d space. CoSA eventually sold the project to Adobe, and it became Adobe’s After Affects.
He was hired in February of 1994 as a Senior Designer and the 8th employee of Strategic Interactive Group, which was to become Digitas. Here he was a member of teams which won multiple awards for Fortune 50 clients. His final year was spent as Art Director on Smith Kline Beecham's post-merger rebranding globally throughout all of their varied interests.
In 1996 Putnam Investments offered him a position as a Creative Director and Project Manager for their online portfolio management system which brought their customers' portfolio information to them on the web for the first time.
In 1997, he relocated to Los Angeles where he founded Kung Fu Design, an interactive agency which provided many interesting interactive opportunities in the entertainment, finance, and manufacturing sectors.
In February 2000 KFD was approached by the television show South Park to handle all of their online needs and managed all of their interactive properties until Q3 2007.
After moving in 2004 to Costa Rica and setting up permanent operations, he was retained by Schematic in March of 2005, and has helped the company grow its presence in Costa Rica.
He is currently a Creative Consultant for Boing Boing TV. (http://tv.boingboing.net/)
