Jason Crawford’s Summary

I have over six years experience in marketing and advertising. My career started as a media buyer for a small ad agency (Generation Marketing) in Provo, Utah where I worked as a media buyer and then later became a media buying supervisor. In both of these roles I learned the "ins-&-outs" of buying spot radio, TV, and newspaper. I also had the opportunity of working with media outlets in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

After getting married I moved to Detroit where I worked for one of the largest privately held agencies in the country, Doner advertising. At Doner I switched my focus from buying to media strategy planning. While at Doner I worked on a diverse set of accounts such as Six Flags, Adelphia, ADT, AutoTrader, and Hotels.com.

Also while at working at Doner, I helped create and
lead an emerging media committee that was formed to educate the agency
and the clients on new opportunities. While I was involved in this
group, I realized that I wanted to focus my efforts in new media and
wanted to be in a full-time role that would allow me to learn and
execute these new opportunities.

My next adventure took me to GM Planworks where I worked on the digital media planning for Saturn. This experience provided valuable skills in learning how to engage an audience through "new media". I am very thankful that Saturn, and GM as a whole, embraced new media as a way to engage an audience in new and impactful ways. This mindset should be, and will have to be, the way in wich we approach marketing challenges.

I am currently at Universal Mccann in NY as a media strategy supervisor. I am responsible for helping to drive overall media direction to help achieve the clients' business and marketing objectives. This includes being able to be able to recommend not only the use of traditional media but also recommend non-traditional and online media as well.
