Lewis Baumstark’s Summary

I like teaching. I am at my best when working side-by-side with students, coaching them through a tricky problem.

My long-term professional goals are to develop teaching strategies that veer away from traditional lecture-based learning and instead encourage individual and team-based learning.

Lewis Baumstark’s Specialties:

Software Engineering, Reverse Engineering, Computer Architecture, Optimizing Compilers

Experience:

Assistant Professor

University of West Georgia

(Educational Institution; Higher Education industry)

January 2005Present (3 years 4 months)

Teaching-oriented position with the Department of Computer Science. Courses taught (or planned for near-future) include object-oriented programming, software engineering, and computer architecture, as well as special-topics courses in reverse engineering and wireless technology. I also serve on and/or chair several department-level committees and sponsor the department's student organization.

When possible, I conduct research into reverse engineering of software. Past and current projects have involved static reverse engineering of C code to parallelize loop code, dynamic reverse engineering to estimate the gains from such parallelization, and dynamically discovering the structure of binary file formats.
