Using vision based algorithms to understand consumer behavior in a supermarket.
Currently, only the objects that are screened at the counter go into record of the store. But consumers interact with a lot of items which they did not buy may be due to the price or they simply did not like it. It is much more easy for the store to know these details which can help them do product placement or change the price if something seems to costly to everyone.
Our system has two cameras placed on top of the shelf in the supermarket looking down at the consumers. It automatically detects when they are interacting with the object and what are those objects. We have demonstrated a working model for Panasonic.
